proposed for the city of Pécs Hungry with a mining past as well that of art , architecture and design, notably Marcel Breuer and Victor Vasarely . The coal and uranium mines produced raw materials for power stations. Vasarely's works provides optical illusion Breuer's organised and defined public space.

to continue the series of Off the Grid works, to realise a work for the city that addresses all the themes. Energy production, visual play and comforting order. To realize a kinetic light sculpture using wind and solar energy at Király street - Búza square / intersection.

A 300cm x 70 x   8   stainless steel frame . 4 wind vanes 1 solar panel. Supplying 12v battery bank via electronics to regulate generated voltage to white LEDs positioned to illuminate the work.

Both side of the vanes are printed with series of black and white squares. Optical illusion occurs when vanes spin. A cube appears.

materials :

Stainless steel frame constructed with 8cm stainless steel box section. Set 1mtr in concreted ground and leveled on location plate.

Frame divided in to 5 sections. Sections 1 to 4 house the wind vanes the 5th a closed section with electronics and battery bank.

Wind vanes made from 1mm thick stainless sheet bent to form slight S shape. Fitted to an axle located in pillow block bearings that are housed in the main frame.

Generators driven by wind

During the day the solar panel on top of the frame charges battery bank.
