'PIT' sound installation
glass/steel construction--
8 infra-red sensors--6 'toy' sound samplers--2 digital voice reorders
willing participents are invited into a seemingly empty space. Infra-red sensors are arranged so that any movement within the PIT triggers monotonous but attractive sound samples, i.e.drum machine, yankee doodle, bird song and guitar solo. There is the added personal feature of being able to record voice and instantly playback with the set sounds. Spectators witness users 'dance' through glass roof.
The seemingly empty space is tickled revealing its dense qualities, empty space is invisibly full.
In 2019 'sound pit' was re installed in KunstKraftWerk museum Leipzig. The orignial hardware had been lost so 'new old' toy instruments were sourced.
